Weekend Review: Derbyshire And Cheshire Cricket League

The last set of fixtures in Divisions 1 and 2 saw the titles decided with Woodley and Whaley Bridge taking the honours. The Division 3 title will be decided this weekend on the final day, with Newton and Woodley in contention of winning the prize.

 

Readers Division One

With a comprehensive win over Tintwistle, Bissenden Cup winners Woodley added the League title to end a very successful season.  Dove Holes ended as runners-up after a comfortable victory against New Mills who now drop to Division 2 alongside Hazel Grove.

With Whaley Bridge crowned as champions the second promotion place went to Pott Shrigley. The individual display of the day was from Hollingworth’s Liam Belfield who smashed 154 against Buxworth.

Division Three

Newton are currently top of the table and lead Woodley by two points. The finish the season this weekend with a huge clash at Stalybridge, whilst Woodley host Broadbottom.  Stalybridge chairman Phil Hammond enjoyed a memorable weekend after hitting a century in their comprehensive win over Hayfield.
