Right Said Fred: Talking Betting With Betfred Boss Fred

Here's my advice for what it's worth to solve the crisis at United: back Erik ten Hag to the hilt, let Cristiano Ronaldo leave - and allow the manager to do a Fergie and gradually introduce a class of 2022 to the first team.

The exit of the Portuguese superstar can happen immediately as he clearly doesn't want to stay so give him his wish.

Meanwhile Ten Hag needs time to fix it at Old Trafford. What we don't need is a knee jerk reaction to our two opening game defeats to Brighton and Brentford. He most certainly should not be pushed into panic buys before the September 1 transfer deadline but work with what he’s got …players who have not turned into non performers overnight but are basically lacking confidence.

I've been a Red since I was in short pants and like all United supporters it pains me what is happening but I am completely behind ten Hag who reminds me so much of when Sir Alex came to Old Trafford.

He had great support when the going was tough and we all know about that Mark Robins goal saving him. But Martin Edwards  stuck by him - and guess what that loyalty was repaid with nearly 30 years of unqualified  success.

The same can quite easily happen again. Ten Hag got the job ahead of Poch because like Fergie he's a disciplinarian and because of the brand of football at Ajax.

The Ronaldo situation  is similar to what happened regarding Paul Pogba ie they don't want to be at United so like Pogba get Ronaldo a taxi. Ronaldo's attitude has got to be affecting morale and not setting the right example to the next wave of Academy youngsters so desperate to be given a chance. They are hungry and would die for the opportunity to wear that famous first team shirt.

The Glazers need to back Ten Hag just like I do here at Betfred where if you show support when the going is tough you instil confidence in people - and get paid back ten fold.

United have drifted out to 80/1 at Betfred to win the Premier League title and 20/1 to relegated ...but those odds will change no doubt when we get at least a draw against Liverpool on Monday. Think I'm joking? Well we do raise our game in the bigger games,  particularly against Liverpool who have certainly not had the best of starts to the season. Ten Hag who rightly ordered his under performing so called stars back in for extra training on Sunday after the humiliation against Brentford will be having a long hard look at his tactics. One thing I will say us that David De Gea hasn't suddenly become a poor keeper who remember has been our best performer for at least three years. It is already warming up to it be a brilliant campaign for some!  Three London clubs Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea  have invested well to challenge Liverpool and of course City, who are light years ahead of the rest of us.

What won't be happening is  those two fellas in Devon cashing in on their £200 wagers with us that United will be relegated. They got on at 500/1 last month so would each  pocket £100,000 if the unthinkable happened.

And finally what on earth was that fellow Salfordian doing winning £80 from me for a quid bet on United losing 4-0 at Brentford? Must be a blue!

Congratulations to a big Betfred winner has pledged to keep his windfall in the family.

The 69-year-old, who lives on the Fylde coast, picked up £31,252 from two bets totalling £10.50 on the Irish Lotto.

The shopkeeper, who works near the Betfred shop he regularly visits, said: “Most of the winnings have been accounted for. The majority has gone to my wife, who will no doubt be giving it to the grandchildren.

And a dental technician from Birmingham is smiling more than ever after winning £31,250 at Betfred.

The 63-year-old, who has been a Betfred customer for 10 years, bet £3 in total on the popular 49s numbers game, picking numbers 3, 9, 11 and 22 which represent the birthdays of his four children.

He’s going to use the winnings to buy a replacement car – and a kitchen extension at his semi-detached home.

He said: “I’ve been using the same numbers for years and I’m so pleased I stayed loyal with them as it’s paid off.

“I’m not buying a new car, but a second hand Ford Focus. My wife will be so happy that we’re finally getting a kitchen extension as she’s been moaning at me for this subject for a long time!”

This fella has done remarkably well winning so much with such a tiny stake – and I’m chuffed he’s not only smiling himself but has made his wife happy too!

And finally one of my favourite stories so far this year surrounds a  grandma from the Midlands who has won £10,000 at Betfred from a FIVE PENCE wager.

Her win is one of the most remarkable in our  50 year-plus history.

The 58-year-old, who works as a bakery assistant, had loose change in her purse when she went past the Betfred shop in Tipton and decided to place a total of 25p on the five Nifty Fifty cash draws on that day.
