Match Report: Wilmslow Albion 2 v 4 Glossop North End Community Club

Glossop travelled to Wilmslow looking to get back to winning ways in the Manchester League.

A very heavy pitch was declared fit by the referee and Glossop in their change kit made a good start with Fergal O'Grady scoring again, Callum Manley with the assist.

Wilmslow got one back from a dead ball and played onside and then went behind to a corner poked home in the box.

But this did not deter Glossop who continued to play quick passing football on the muddy surface, Charlie Goddard impressing wide right and linking up well with Alex Carnally at right back. When the goal did come it was a fine 25 yard finish from young u17 Matty Birkhead who smashed home the equaliser to raptures from the large travelling support.

Wilmslow started the second half strongly and Deacon back in the side from injury made a couple of fine stops. Charlie Harris was introduced up front, with Brodie Sharpe coming on too to bolster the attacking threat, skipper Callum Cheetham dropping deeper into midfield after an impressive half.

It was Charlie Harris who finally unlocked Wilmslow on 83 minutes after a fine through ball from Manley, back in the side from injury and finishing neatly.

Ben Gove made a useful contribution at left back and Joe Atkinson continued an energetic performances after mainstay Taylor Adshead was replaced with a recurrent injury.

Deacon made another fine stop, Charlie Morris and Lewis Woolstencroft cementing the middle of defence before O'Grady raced forward to score his 10th in 5 games and seal 3 points for Glossop on the road.
