Match Report: Lancaster City 0-4 Hyde United

The Tigers took a trip to the giant Axe on Saturday as they faced Lancaster City and looked to go 10 games without defeat.

Hyde started well, having most of the possession and nullifying and early threat that Lancaster had.

Hyde’s possession soon turned into attacking threat and after 16 minutes Harry Bunn’s left footed shot from the edge of the box took a huge deflection wrong footing the keeper and putting the reds a goal to the good. As City started to grow back into the game a woeful error by goalkeeper Andre Mendes when playing out from the back saw Lewis Alessandra receive the ball with only a defender to beat on the goal line he smashed it past him to put The Tigers two up on the half hour mark. At the halfway stage Hyde looked good for their lead although Lancaster had threatened towards the end of the half they’d had no real chances. City started the better of the two sides in the second half but they were punished on the break by a beautiful Jack Redshaw run down the left hand side to bring him one on one and he made no mistake as he slotted past Mendes at his near post to put the game well beyond Lancaster. Just four minutes later Will Russ made sure that that was that as he was played through and finished well to score his second goal since returning to the club. The last half an hour was a game of two teams who knew where the points were going, Hyde kept possession and Lancaster had no answer. Another brilliant performance from Nick Spooner’s men means they climb to third in the league table however most teams in an around have at least one game in hand.
