Droylsden suffered a heavy defeat at home to Cheadle Heath Nomads on Saturday. Despite taking an early lead, they went on to concede four goals to Paul Fay’s side.
Several changes were made to the starting line-up following Droylsden’s 6-1 defeat against Ashville FC in the previous fixture. And after six minutes they were ahead, AJ Warburton grabbing his first league goal for the Bloods.
The home side should have doubled their lead when Reece Webb was sent through on goal, but his effort was saved by the keeper. Cheadle then punished this missed opportunity when Thomas Swindell headed home from a corner five minutes before halftime.
Cheadle only got stronger in the second half. A long ball wasn’t dealt with by Droylsden’s defence and Thomas Jones finished the chance for the visitors. Loui Williams then made it 3-1, scoring after the ball was cut back to him following some neat play on the left wing.
Things only got worse for Dave Pace’s side when Swindell grabbed his second of the game, once again coming from a Nomads corner.
The away side received a late red card, but Droylsden was unable to provide any consolation. A long-range effort striking the post was the closest they came to scoring in the second half.
It’s now two successive heavy defeats for the Bloods, however, it’s still early in their season with plenty of time to turn things around. And they’ll be hoping to return to winning ways in their next fixture at home to Cammell Laird 1907.
