D&CCL Weekend Review: Curtain Closes On Season

With Divisions 1 and 2 concluding last weekend attention turned to Divisions 3 and 4 as the DCCL season concluded.

Division Three

Leaders Newton started the day 2 points ahead of 2nd placed Woodley.  Having been dismissed by Stalybridge for 108 there must have been nerves.  But a fine spell from Rhys Goodall in the Stalybridge reply saw them to a win which gave them the title by a single point after Woodley beat Broadbottom by 50 runs.  At the bottom Hayfield and Chapel were relegated

  • Hayfield 184-8 (Calum Ramsay 66) Chapel 185-4 (Mark Wagstaffe 116; Ted Bradley 45)
  • Hazel Grove 120-9 (Karan Arora 43)  Old Glossop 119-8 (Tom Lane 51)
  • Stalybridge 48ao (Rhys Goodall 5-9)  Newton 108ao (Kevin Dooley 4-42)
  • Woodley 145ao (George Roberts 4-42) Broadbottom 95ao (Nick Courtney 53*)

Division Four

Tintwistle were already assured of the title but failed to end on a winning note after they went down by 5 wickets to 3rd placed Charlesworth.  Hollingworth will join Tintwistle in Division 3 next year after a 4-wicket win at Pott Shrigley left them 6 points ahead of Charlesworth.

  • Buxworth 177ao (Chris Breeze 42) New Mills 113ao
  • Charlesworth 176-5 (Neil Gannon 45; Sam Gilham 45*) Tintwistle 171ao (Steve Morris 50; Dan Robinson 53; Toby Tanton 4-24)
  • Pott Shrigley 133-7  Hollingworth 139-6
