Celtic On The Hunt For Back-To-Back Victories

Following Saturday's huge victory at Atherton Collieries, Stalybridge Celtic return to action tonight and host playoff-chasing Whitby Town.

The 1-0 victory Saturday, courtesy of Raul Correia's 28th minute penalty, ended a six game winless run in the NPL Premier Division, five of which were defeats. 

Simon Haworth's side now have a 12 point cushion between the last remaining relegation place, which is occupied by Witton Albion, and look destined to preserve their status as a step seven club for another season.

They will be hoping to take a further step in the right direction this evening, however it won't be an easy task against a Whitby side who are currently two points outside the playoffs and boast the league's leading scorer in the form of Jacob Hazel, who has notched 20 times the season.

After tonight's clash, Celtic have five games remaining, one of which takes place at Hyde United in the penultimate fixture of the season.

The club's home tie against Lancaster City on Saturday 16 April has been designated as the #HerGameToo fixture - an organisation set up by a small group of female fans to try and end sexism in football and make going to football a safe environment for women and girls.
