Bloods secure play-off spot

Easter Monday provided a cracking game of football as the Bloods took on the Gingerbread Men, with Droylsden securing a play-off position, following a 5-3 victory away to Market Drayton Town.

Joel Ankers was the clear standout for Dave Pace’s side, grabbing a hat trick to help his side secure a huge three points.

The home side took an early lead through Luca Whitney, but by 17 minutes Droylsden found themselves 3-1 up. A brace from Joel Ankers followed by an AJ Warburton goal saw the Bloods race ahead.

However, their two-goal lead was quickly dismantled when two quickfire goals from Levi Hunter and Theo Smith dragged Market Drayton back into the contest. At half-time the score was 3-3.

In the second half, Droylsden resumed normal order and took full control of the contest. Joel Ankers scored his third of the game in the 68th minute, which is his sixth goal in five matches.

Then in the 74th minute, Shaquille Lewys wrapped up proceedings with his fourth goal for the club.

Droylsden have now ensured they will have a chance at promotion come the end of the season, with two league games left to play and Semi Final against Chadderton still to come. A fantastic achievement for the Bloods in their first season back in competitive football.
