Remembrance Sunday ceremonies to go ahead in Oldham

Last year, ceremony attendees were limited because of Covid-19, however this year’s services on Sunday 14 November are open to all.

There will also be opportunities to place wreaths on war memorials.

Services are taking place in Oldham town centre, Chadderton, Crompton, Failsworth, Lees, Royton and Saddleworth.

Retired Sergeant Major Andy Thorpe, Royal British Legion member, Shaw and Crompton Branch, added: “It’s great that many of us are able to come together as a community this year to pay tribute to the servicemen and women who have given so much, as well as all of those who have been affected by armed conflict. As one community we stand together to say: we remember.

“Please continue to support the Royal British Legion’s annual campaign and wear a poppy with pride.”
