Injured walker rescued from hills

Woman had injured her ankle and needed emergency help

Oldham Mountain Rescue team called into weekend action

Thirteen members of Oldham Mountain Rescue team responded to a call on Saturday from North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust requesting  assistance with treatment and evacuation of a woman who had suffered an ankle injury while walking in the Dovestones area. The callout officer made contact and established the location as Ashway Rocks, which allowed the team to rendezvous with NWAS paramedics and  transport them almost all the way to the scene in their off road buggy, 'OM5'.  After a medical assessment, the injured woman was taken back down the hill in OM5 and transferred to the NWAS ambulance.

OMRT leader Rob Tortoishell said: “We wish her all the best for a speedy recovery.” The rescue team were involved for one hour 15 minutes at the scene.
