Conservatives name candidate for Oldham East and Saddleworth

The Conservative Party have announced their candidate for the upcoming general election in the Oldham East and Saddleworth Constituency.

Tom Lord, a legal and criminal barrister has been selected to contest the seat which was held up until recently by Labour’s Debbie Abrahams.

In his statement, Tom says he is running on a "compassionate conservative manifesto that delivers on the people’s priorities like the cost of living, record levels of NHS investment, putting more police on our streets, levelling up education funding, clean energy, tackling violent crime and higher pay.”

Brexit is also a key part of the candidates pledge, saying: “Only the Conservatives can deliver Brexit - doing so will allow the country to move on. It is time to end the deadlock in Parliament and honour the result of the referendum!

“Debbie Abrahams has spent the last three years trying to thwart Brexit; Tom Lord wants to sort Brexit!”

As well as his work with disadvantaged children in primary education and on modern slavery, Tom enjoys running and climbing.
