When a decision on plans for McDonald's in Glossop is expected

What the McDonald's restaurant could look like in Glossop if the plans are approved.

A decision on a controversial planning application for a new McDonald's drive-thru in Glossop will not be made until March, the borough council has confirmed.

The application had been expected to go before the Development Control Committee meeting next week.

Explaining the reason for the revised date, a spokesperson for High Peak Borough Council said: “Officers are continuing to assess the application including the submission of additional supporting information by the applicants’ agents.

“The Council currently expects the application to be considered at the Development Management committee meeting in March.”

The fast-food giant wants to build a drive-thru and restaurant on the site the former Wrens Nest pub in proposals that have split opinion locally.

If approved, the development will create new jobs but concerns have been raised including the impact such a development could have on traffic congestion.
