Spotting the signs of County Lines

Derbyshire Constabulary have released advice on how the public can spot signs of County Lines trafficking operations.

County Lines is the term used to describe the process of transporting illegal drugs from one area to another, often across police and local authority boundaries (although not exclusively), usually by children or vulnerable people who are coerced into it by gangs.

Know the signs of exploitation, so you can recognise if something doesn’t feel right and report it.

– Is a young person travelling alone, particularly when they’re meant to be at school or late at night?

– Do they look lost, anxious, frightened or nervous?

They might have more than one mobile phone, large amounts of cash or be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If you’re worried, let us know.  Often the signs of County Lines can be easily missed, until you #LookCloser and report this to the police to build up a bigger picture.
