Rescuers called out in early hours

Volunteers from Edale Mountain Rescue Team ended up out in the early hours of Monday morning searching for a group of walkers.

However, after searching for a couple of hours, it was clear that the missing party were not in the in the Grindsbrook Valley in Edale area as they had reported.

A search of local car parks found them asleep in a car and they were surprised to be woken up at 3.30am.

They ended up receiving what was described as a short but robust lecture on the need to report to police when they are off down the hill and safe after earlier calling for help.

Had they reported that they were no longer lost they could have saved the volunteers lots of time and sleep.
