Rejected homes plan in Glossop will go to appeal

The proposed site plan for homes off Hollincross Lane in Glossop.

A decision to reject controversial plans for 23 new homes to be built in Glossop is being appealed and will now be determined by a planning inspector.

Back in January, High Peak Borough Council’s Development Control Committee turned down an application from Glossop Eden Ltd for the site just off Hollincross Lane.

The rejected proposal was to convert the former St Christopher's Trust Redcourt building, a former care facility, and build 19 new dwellings on the site.

This would be made up of seven two-bedroomed units, 13 three-bedroomed, and three four-bedroomed units on the site with access from Hollincross Lane and Slatelands Road.

Ward Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, who has spoken against the application, said the objections submitted by residents at the time will be taken into consideration. There is now another opportunity for residents to add further comments by 22 September.

“The inspector will take them into consideration and hopefully uphold the objections to the planning application,” said Cllr Greenhalgh.

The appeal will be decided by a planning inspector following a local hearing.

Anyone who wants to make any additional comments can do so via the Planning Inspectorate's online Planning Portal https://acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk/ and must quote the Planning Inspector’s reference: APP/APP/H103/W/22/3303566.

Additional comments can also be sent by post to Planning Inspectorate, Room 3B Eagle Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN. Three copies must be sent and again include the Planning Inspector’s reference.
