Post Office could be on the move in Hadfield

Hadfield Post Office on Station Road

Hadfield Post Office could be on the move under plans being consulted on by The Post Office.

The proposed changes follow a decision by the current postmaster to resign and the existing premises at 120-122 Station Road being withdrawn.

In a statement, The Post Office said they have identified an alternative location and a new operator has been appointed.

The plan is to relocate the Post Office service to Nisa Hadfield Stores at 83 - 85 Station Road and introduce longer opening hours.

The firm said: “Our priority is to safeguard our services in the locality in the longer term and the relocation Hadfield Post Office would enable us to maintain a Post Office service to our customers in the local community, subject to consultation.

The proposed Hadfield branch would have three serving positions, two screened and a Post Office serving point alongside the retail counter of the convenience store.

The main, screened, counters would be open Monday to Friday: 9am – 6pm; Saturday: 9am – 2pm. The Post Office service point, selling selected services, would be available: Monday to Saturday: 7am – 9pm; Sunday: 7.30am – 8.30pm.

Customers can share their views during the consultation online at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 256432.

Submissions can also be made via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk by post to Freepost YOUR COMMENTS, or by telephone 03452 66 01 15 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.

Local Councillor Ollie Cross said: “Hadfield Post Office is a vital community asset delivering a range of important services to local residents and it's good news that it's being retained in Hadfield.

“If any local residents or businesses wish to have their say on proposals then please don't hesitate to engage with the public consultation.”

The local public consultation ends on Friday 7 April.
