Pennine Way walker thanks rescuers

A man who suffered a broken leg while walking on the Pennine Way has thanked all those involved in his rescue.

Alan Siddall was out on Monday (2 January) when he slipped near to Snake Summit.

The volunteers from Glossop Mountain Rescue Team were called to assist and were able to carry him by stretcher to a NWAS ambulance.

The team stated the day had started with nice sunny conditions but had quickly turned into a brief snowstorm.

Posting on social media, Alan gave an update on his condition while being treated at Tameside Hospital confirming he had a broken fibula.

He said: “I can’t thank the guys from Glossop MRT Enough for all they did for me today... from the bottom of my heart, thanks guys!”

The call-out was the team’s first of the new year.
