Law firm helps Glossop schoolchildren turn over a new leaf

Law firm Davis Blank Furniss has donated £50 to every school in Glossop to spend on books.

Law firm Davis Blank Furniss has donated £50 to every school in Glossop to spend on books.

Partner head of residential property Susan Bann came up with the initiative. She was supported by Debra Kelly, partner and head of private client; and Kirsty Morbey, head of the family department .

Over recent weeks, the firm has contacted each school and has donated a total of £600 to encourage reading. Davis Blank Furniss has also  given over its prominent Woolley Bridge poster site to Glossopdale Foodbank which they also did last year. Debra Kelly said: “First and foremost we are a Glossop firm, so we want to give back to the local community as much as possible. We partner with The Bureau for regular drop-in clinics, sponsor various Round Table events, and try to support as many local sports clubs and festivals as possible. However, this Christmas we also really wanted to do something special for our schools who do an amazing job educating the next generation. We hope the donations make a difference.” Craig Woodward the Headteacher at Whitfield St James' CE (VC) Primary School added: “We’d like to thank Davis Blank Furniss for this kind donation as it will directly benefit our school community and will help us to foster a love of reading.”
