Glossop Mountain Rescue Team was in action on Sunday (3 July) after being contacted by the Peak District's duty controller.

The call came through at 12:35pm to report that a female had fallen and sustained injuries in Blackden Brook, Kinder Scout.

Following deployment, members located the casualty high up Blackden Clough and provided initial casualty care.

Due to the location and nature of the injuries sustained, additional support was requested and a Coastguard S92 helicopter was tasked from Humberside.

The casualty was airlifted to Northern General in Sheffield and a team of 18 rescuers was stood down at 5pm.

A team spokesman said: “We wish the casualty a speedy recovery and thank Rescue 912 for their assistant."

The team was celebrating its 65th anniversary on Saturday evening with both present and past team members.

GMRT is made up entirely of volunteers and rely totally on the local and wider community for support and donations.
