A historic packhorse bridge in the Goyt Valley has been reopened after vital repairs were carried out.
Concerns had been raised about the disrepair of the bridge, which is located a mile to the south of the Errwood Reservoir in the Goyt Valley.
Following the intervention of High Peak MP Robert Largan, on behalf of those raising concerns, landowner United Utilities had contractors carry out work to stabilise the bridge and allow a full assessment of the extent of the repairs needed.
One side of the bridge needed to be completely reconstructed and this work had now been completed restoring the bridge to its former glory.
The MP said: “This is brilliant news for everyone who takes an interest in the preservation of local culture and local history.
“I am very pleased that residents’ voices have been listened to and that the bridge is now open to the public again.”
