High Peak planning applications round-up

Our first round-up of planning applications in the High Peak in 2023 includes details of a new phone mast in Hadfield.

New applications 

A number of planning applications have been submitted to High Peak Borough Council they include: 

  • Demolition of existing boundary wall to south of site at rear and replacement with new boundary wall and gate at Little Padfield Farm, Little Padfield, Glossop 
  • New vehicular access, store/garage and fence at 1 Hawk Road, New Mills 
  • Single storey rear extension, front and rear dormer at 150 Buxton Road, Whaley Bridge 
  • Retrospective permission for a rear storm porch and wc and the alteration of a rear window at 1-2, Waterside Cottages, Dolly Lane, Buxworth 
  • Single storey rear and side extension at 36 Spencer Road, Chapel-en-le-Frith 
  • Single storey rear extension at 13 Haydn Fold, Charlesworth 
  • Small extension to existing porch at 89A Ardura, Western Lane, Buxworth 
  • Relocation of an all-weather equestrian menage at Rivendell Farm, Woodseats Lane, Charlesworth,  
  • Conversion of garage to living accommodation and rear extension at Kyrkton Villa, Stubbins Lane, Chinley 
  • Extension at first floor level and part ground floor to form a gym and changing room facilities at Football Ground, Silverlands, Buxton         
  • Change of use of part of former dental practice to holiday let at High Peak Dental Care, Eccles Road, Chapel-en-le-Frith 
  • Conversion of an outbuilding and link extension to connect to the house at Horwich Lodge, Eccles Road, Whaley Bridge 
  • Extension to an existing first floor balcony at the rear of 67 Heath Road, Glossop 

Phone mast for Hadfield 

Plans have been submitted to High Peak Borough Council for a new 15-metre-high telephone mast to be installed at Old Hall Square in Hadfield. 

In addition to the 15-metre-high Phase 8 Monopole the application also covers a wrap round cabinet at its base and associated ancillary works. 

The public can comment on the application until 26 January.

Pizza takeaway for Gamesley

Plans have been submitted for a new pizza takeaway in Gamesley. 

The proposals are for a change of use for the currently vacant property, next to the One Stop store on Melandra Castle Road.

Plans approved 

Plans that have been given the go ahead and approved by High Peak Borough Council include: 

  • Proposed upper floor extension on existing bungalow at Holly Farm, Briargrove Road, Birch Vale  
  • Replacement window and re-painting gable at 26 Church Street, Hayfield 
  • Installation of glazed porch door, replacement of the existing windows and minor internal alterations at Hollin Knoll, Long Lane, Martinside, Chapel-en-le-Frith 

Rejected by planners 

Planners have rejected a number of planned changes to properties in the High Peak. 

An application to convert and extend a garage and build a new two storey extension at 10 Forge Corner, Outram Way, Chinley has been turned down. 

It was determined that the proposed extensions would be excessively large in scale and massing and would not be in keeping with the existing property, or the character of the area. 

The loss of the garage would also mean the proposed parking provisions would fall short of those required for the size of the property. 

A proposed loft conversion with a rear dormer at 13 Manor Park Road, Glossop, has been refused by High Peak Planners. 

They determined that the proposed dormer window would have been an uncharacteristic element within the Old Glossop Conservation Area and lead to a harmful level of overlooking of an adjacent property. 

Plans to convert a former workshop between Pennine View Care Centre and Hobroyd Cottage in Glossop to residential accommodation have been rejected. 

Planners stated that the proposed two-bedroom home, by virtue of the siting and design of the windows, would result in overlooking and loss of privacy to existing properties and a poor outlook for future occupiers to the new home.
