Have your say on county council’s new flood risk strategy

A consultation has been launched by Derbyshire County Council to shape how the county’s flood risk is managed.

It follows a review of the existing Local Flood Risk Management Strategy which sets out how the council manages surface water flood risk.

Focusing on the next five years it looks at how DCC will prevent flooding where possible, mitigate the effects and help communities to become more resilient against flooding.

DCC’s Cabinet Member for Highways Assets and Transport, Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal, said: “As the lead authority for flooding, it’s vitally important we have the right plans in place across the county to manage the risk as best we can.

“We would be very interested to hear people’s views on our strategy and their input will be used to help shape how the county’s flood risk is managed in future.”

To take part in the consultation, open until 28 April, go to www.derbyshire.gov.uk/floodstrategy

Derbyshire residents with any queries about the consultation, or who need help to take part should email flood.team@derbyshire.gov.uk and a member of the Flood Team will get back to them as soon as possible.
