Glossopdale Foodbank launches Christmas appeal

Glossopdale Foodbank has begun its annual appeal for Christmas this year.

Christmas food parcels will have that bit more than usual so that families can have some kind of celebration even though times may be very difficult.

As well as the usual food parcel, there will be an extra bag which will contain Christmas Fare, such as chocolates, biscuits, Christmas puddings and a family game.

"But this will depend on the level of donations we get," said Foodbank Manager Charlotte Mendes-Kelly.

"The Foodbank has relied each year on donations of Christmas food and extra funds to provide a simple Christmas for people who will have to use the Foodbank at this time, and the ever-generous Glossopdale community has never let us down."

The Foodbank will be present at the Old Glossop Christmas Market on 4 December, with a stall dedicated to raising funds for the Christmas parcels, as they have been for the past few years. But this year will see a new initiative.

Thanks to a local company, a large poster displaying a message from the Foodbank will be on display at the Woolley Bridge Roundabout to remind people that Christmas isn’t the best of times for everyone.
