Glossop school pupils learn more about Suffragettes

The great granddaughter of Emmeline Pankhurst and granddaughter of Sylvia Pankhurst has visited a school in Glossop.

Helen Pankhurst visited the Duke of Norfolk CE Primary School and talked with pupils in Year 5 and 6, who have been learning about the Suffragettes and the key role played by the Pankhurst family.

During a Q&A, the children asked some amazing questions and Helen gave them a great insight into the well-known Pankhurst women, and discussed the work that still needs to be done to support equality for women and girls.

Year 3 pupil Indie Plant, who dressed as a suffragette for the day, helped to organise the visit with her mum, who works with Helen at a Manchester charity which supports women - GM4Women.
