Glossop North End make donation to Glossopdale Foodbank

Glossop North End have demonstrated their commitment to the community by making a donation of £400 to Glossopdale Foodbank from their Christmas Party raffle.

The festive event took place on Saturday 16 December at the Glossop North End clubhouse, and the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Christmas Party raffle, featuring an array of prizes donated by both local businesses and club volunteers.

Among the local contributors were Distant Hills Brewing and Nancy's Nest lifestyle shop, who generously provided prizes that added a touch of local flavour to the festivities. Furthermore, Glossop North End players demonstrated their support by signing a football that became one of the coveted raffle prizes. Additionally, a hamper brimming with seasonal delights was contributed by dedicated club volunteers.

The culmination of the evening's festivities was the announcement that a total of £400 would be donated to Glossopdale Foodbank from the proceeds of the raffle. The Junior teams also collected food items which were also donated. This heartfelt contribution is a testament to Glossop North End's dedication to making a positive impact in the local community, especially over the Christmas season.

Sarah Davies, a representative from Glossopdale Foodbank, expressed sincere gratitude for the football club's thoughtful gesture. "Thank you so much to everyone at Glossop North End for their wonderful donation from their Christmas Party and Raffle, and to the Junior teams that collected food items for the Foodbank in the run up to Christmas," said Davies. She emphasised the significance of such donations, stating, "We are very thankful to be part of such a warm and supportive community, and your donations will help us to support people locally who are struggling to afford food."

Josh Hanson, the Community Director at Glossop North End, echoed the sentiments of gratitude and community spirit. "It’s warming to know those who are struggling during these difficult times have benefited from the generosity of the Glossop North End fans and the club," he said. Highlighting the club's ongoing dedication, he added, "As a club, we want to be at the heart of the community, and we are always looking at ways to support our local community and local charities."

Glossop North End's commitment to giving back to the community not only strengthens the bonds within Glossop but also sets an inspiring example for other organisations to follow suit. The club's initiative serves as a reminder of the power of collective goodwill and the positive impact it can have on the lives of those in need.

If you would like to donate to the Foodbank, you can donate food items at locations across Glossop, or make a cash donation on the Foodbank website.
