GALLERY: Literary fun at first ever Glossop Book Fest

Authors and illustrators gathered to promote their work to the local community at the very first Glossop Book Fest last weekend.

The five-hour festival - a free event organised by dedicated volunteers - took place on Saturday afternoon at Central Methodist Church on Chapel Street, which was a hive of literary activity.

There was a special workshop for young writers; a children's book illustration workshop; an introduction to short story writing; a storytime session for children; a cartoon draw-along of aliens, robots and monsters; a bring and buy stall for pre-loved books, and a whole lot more. Book related fancy dress was also optional.

The team behind the event was children's book author and illustrator Nicola Worswick; author, editor and storyteller Mark P Henderson; author Pamela Turton; author, poet and occasional stand-up comic Andy Millican, and author Andrew Dutton.
