GALLERY: Charlesworth and Chisworth Carnival 2023

Rain didn't dampen spirits as people turned out to enjoy this year's Charlesworth and Chisworth Carnival.

The colourful procession left St Margaret's School in Gamesley and travelled through Charlesworth to the Village Green.

The new Carnival Royalty of Queen Tilly, Princess Lydia and Rosebud Fleur were then crowned before they fired the starting gun on the annual senior and junior fell races.

Saturday afternoon (8 July) was a hive of activity at the green on Marple Road as families enjoyed food, drink and an array of attractions and activities.

Local businesses got involved, Glossop Mountain Rescue Team were among those in attendance, and High Peak Civic Mayor Cllr Pete Inman and local MP Robert Largan also paid a visit.

The scarecrow competition associated with the carnival also proved to be popular again, with lots of amazing creations on display throughout the area in keeping with this year's theme of Purple or Coronation.

Hannah James, carnival chairperson, thanked everyone involved in making the carnival a success.

Anyone who wants to get involved in next year's carnival can send a message to the Charlesworth and Chisworth Carnival Facebook page and the committee will be in touch when organisation ramps up in January 2024.
