Community Garden in Chapel recognised with positive award

The Townend Community Garden in Chapel-en-le-Frith has been recognised for the positive impact they have made to help the local community.

The volunteer-led organisation has been awarded the Crompton Woodcock Award and £100 by High Peak CVS.

In total 18 incredible groups and organisations were nominated for the prestigious award made in memory of previous chairs of the High Peak CVS Chris Woodcock and Mike Crompton.

The group said receiving the award was a proud moment for everyone who has helped to make the garden what it is today and thanked all of the volunteers involved in the project.

Townend Community Garden was set up in order to provide a safe, healthy outdoor environment where all local residents can have the opportunity to meet, to grow flowers, vegetables, and fruit, or just sit and enjoy the peace and tranquillity.

In second was Buxton Talking Newspaper with third place going to the Helen Atkin Group Riding for the Disabled that provides riding therapy for disabled children and adults from across the High Peak.

High Peak CVS works to support the development of voluntary and community organisations by providing advice, practical services and resources.
