Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at New Mills Arts Theatre

Dive into a world full of colour, imagination and fun with Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at New Mills Arts Theatre, which has been standing on Jodrell Street since 1911.

This timeless classic follows the story of Joseph who is blessed with dreams that foretell the future and this journey is followed by a soundtrack of bubblegum pop, rock and roll and western inspired feel good songs by Andrew Llyod Webber.

The show begins with a rumble of violins, bells and a flood of blue lights that fill the room with anticipation.

Joseph, played by Paul Rafferty, first made his entrance in a striking white outfit, accompanied by the song “Any Dream Will Do”, which instantly encourages the audience to sing along as do the powerful songs sung by Emily Hobson who is the narrator of the musical.

Emily tells the story of Jacob with her powerful singing voice, a voice that entices you into the world of Joseph as he becomes one of the most powerful men in Egypt. The children also join in with the songs, creating a choir of vibrance.

As the story progresses, we see numerous set designs, all of which are inspired by ancient Egyptian buildings and this talented cast utilise the whole stage with their performances such as "Those Canaan Days" and the finale medley.

The Pharaoh, played by Joe Maguire, is a stand out character. His outfit and songs are inspired by Elvis and are guaranteed to put a smile on the audience's faces.

The level of detail in the costumes in the golden, glittering costumes was incredible as was the atmosphere. This unmissable musical is on stage until the 25th November, with ticket prices on sale for £14 - https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/whats-on/high-peak/new-mills-art-theatre/joseph-and-the-amazing-technicolor-dreamcoat/e-avrovg
