Youngster tackles fitness challenge for The Believe and Achieve Trust

In support of Lucas.

West Hill student Lucas Rhodes has made the local community proud after raising invaluable funds for a cause close to his heart.

Striving to make a difference within the borough, Lucas has raised thousands for charity over the last few years. As a young ambassador for The Believe and Achieve Trust, Lucas continually goes above and beyond with inventive new ways to raise funds.

This year, he pondered for a challenge to complete over his summer holidays. A fitness fanatic, Lucas decided he would run, walk or cycle 3 miles every day of August.

He aims to complete 100 miles during his challenge and has championed through the month to raise over £300.

Supporting him on his journey, Lucas invited his teammates from East Cheshire Harriers to complete a 5k run alongside him.

A supportive community, the East Cheshire youngsters gathered at the club and together completed 6 laps of a close-by football field, equating to 3 miles.

The day was a fantastic success, aiding Lucas on his journey and ultimately helping to raise even more funds.

Alison Williams, Chief Executive of The Believe and Achieve Trust, was on hand to celebrate the achievements of Lucas and his fellow runners.

The mother of Alex, who sadly passed away following a battle with meningitis, has seen first hand the wonderful fundraising that Lucas has carried out and continues to be thankful for all of his work.

As the group finished their last lap and crossed the 5km finish, they joined together for an embrace, congratulating Lucas and thanking him for inviting them.

Setting fantastic standards in the world of running, Lucas has just received the news that he will be given a Run North West voucher, courtesy of the Local Runners Podcast. To commemorate all his hard work, the podcast was keen to offer Lucas the voucher, allowing him to purchase new kit and improve his running career.

Lucas’s summer challenge has been an incredible use of his time and skills, applying his passion for sport to a spectacular money-raising initiative.
