Woman dies in Stockport Road crash

A woman died after a three-vehicle collision on a busy road between Gee Cross and Stockport this afternoon (Wednesday).

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene on the A560 Stockport Road in Woodley. 

Her age or identity hasn't yet been released. It is understood she was cut from one of the cars involved in the horrific crash. 

Two men were also taken to hospital - one of whom has serious injuries. 

The collision, which involved a BMW, a Kia and a Renault, happened at around 1.40pm near the Joshua Bradley pub. 

The North West Ambulance Service said that an air ambulance was dispatched to the scene along with three ambulances, an operational commander, an advanced paramedic and a rapid response vehicle.

Police said in a statement issued at around 6.30pm this evening (Wednesday) that no arrests have been made so far and the road remains closed, with motorists advised to avoid the area where possible. 

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
