Who has appeared in court recently?

Tameside Magistrates' Court in Ashton.

A double assault charge, a woman who had been ran down in the street and a driver twice over the drink drive limit are among the cases seen at Tameside Magistrates Court this week.

Here's our roundup...

Under curfew for harassment

Harassing an individual landed Paul Wren a curfew order at Tameside magistrates.

The court heard the course of harassment had been ongoing between February 26 and March 30 of this year.

The 54-year-old, of Bennett Mews, Hyde, pleaded guilty to the offence and was given a 12 weeks curfew order, meaning he must remain at his address between the hours of 8pm to 8am for the duration of the order.

He was also given a restraining order, meaning he must have no contact with the complainant.

He must pay £85 court costs and a £95 victim surcharge.

Ordered to stay home for assault

Ashton man Paul Mcloughlin has been given a curfew order by Tameside magistrates for assaulting a police constable and for being drunk and disorderly.

The order means the 35-year-old, of Diamond Close, Ashton, must remain at his address between the hours of 7pm and 7am each night for two months.

He pleaded guilty to the offences which the court was told had happened on January 16 in Shaw Heath, Stockport.

He was ordered to pay £100 compensation plus court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £95.

Work it out after double assault

Tameside magistrates have ordered Sean Hulme to carry out 100 hours unpaid work.

The court heard he had assaulted two police officers.

The 32-year-old, of George Street, Denton, had initially denied the charges which related to an incident in Tameside on July 5 last year, but later changed his plea to guilty.

He was ordered to pay £50 compensation plus court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £95.

Caused damage to garden gate

Stuart Walker has been given a six months conditional discharge for damaging a garden gate at an address on Speke Walk in Denton.

He admitted the offence, which had happened on or around May 17 last year.

He was ordered to pay £50 compensation for the damage when he appeared before Tameside magistrates.

The 39-year-old, of Osbourne Road, Denton, was also ordered to pay a £22 victim surcharge.

Man ran down woman in street

A man who rammed a van he had stolen into a woman, causing her to go over the bonnet and end up in the road, has been jailed.

Police say Sam Dymond was driving the white van on Boodle Street in Ashton in 2017 when he got into a road rage attack, being abusive towards the woman before ramming the vehicle into her.

The woman went over the bonnet and ended up on the road, before Dymond sped off, dumped the van and set it on fire.

Fortunately, the woman escaped without serious injury.

Police say Dymond is ‘now where he belongs’ after the 31-year-old, of Knott Lane in Oldham, was jailed for 10 months and two weeks.

He admitted dangerous driving, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of failing to attend court.

Threat of jail for motoring charge

Tameside magistrates have given a motorist a suspended jail sentence.

The court heard Yan Tingle, 42, of Fields Farm Road, Hyde, had failed to provide a specimen of breath when suspected of having committed a driving offence.

The incident had happened in Liverpool back in July last year.

He admitted the offence and was given an eight weeks jail term, suspended for 12 months.

Magistrates also banned him from the road for three years and gave him a 12 weeks curfew order, meaning he must remain at his address between the hours of 7pm and 7am.

He must pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £128.

Twice over the drink drive limit

Owen Feakes, 21, of Foxholes Road, Hyde, was found to be more than two times over the drink drive limit when stopped on Tame Street, Stalybridge, on April 21 this year.

Tameside magistrates heard he was found to have 72 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

He was banned from the road for 17 months, fined £260 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

The driving ban can be reduced by four months if a driving course is completed.
