Two wanted after early-morning fight in Stalybridge

Police have released an image of two people they would like to speak to after a early morning brawl in Stalybridge.

At around 3:40am on Sunday 28 November 2021, a 19-year-old man was punched in the head on Market Street in Stalybridge, near to the White House Pub.

The victim was treated at the scene by ambulance staff and at the hospital where he was found to have a bleed on the brain. Doctors put him into an induced coma until his condition stabilised.

He spent five days in hospital but has thankfully now recovered and isn’t believed to have sustained any lasting damage.

A woman, also 19, was punched to the ground in the same incident but was uninjured.

Detective Constable Ryan O'Hanlon, of Ashton-under-Lyne CID, said: "This happened near to The White House pub and we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident.

"It was captured on CCTV and we hope the two people in the footage can assist us with our enquiries.

"The male is white, around 5'8" with dark hair wearing dark coloured jeans or trousers, a grey or light green padded jacket and a grey hoody.

"The female is also white, with dark hair, wearing a knee-length black coat, black trousers or leggings, and white trainers.”

Anyone with any information about the assault should contact DC O'Hanlon on 0161 856 9262, quoting incident number 518 of 28/11/2021.

Information can be passed on anonymously by calling 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
