Tributes to 'brightest, funniest and most loving boy'

Callum Mckenna.

Tributes have been paid to a teenager from Droylsden who has sadly passed away after falling from a bridge on the M60 motorway.

Former Droylsden Academy pupil Callum Mckenna, 17, died on Sunday afternoon (16 May).

Emergency services rushed to the scene near junction 22 for Manchester and Oldham at around 2.25pm.

The North West Air Ambulance also attended but, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have said there are no suspicious circumstances.

Callum's cousin Simon Devenport set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to help his family cover funeral costs, which has already raised over £7,000.

Simon wrote: "He was the brightest, funniest and most loving boy who deserves the best send off we can give him. Rest in Peace Cal, we all love you so much."

Ashton Sixth Form College, where Callum was a student, said they were saddened to hear the tragic news that they have lost a "much-loved member of our college community".

The college tweeted: "Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to all affected by this devastating news."

A number of floral tributes and messages for Callum have also been placed at the motorway bridge.
