Stalybridge man charged with rape of woman in alleged spiking incident

Detectives in Tameside have charged a 29-year-old man from Stalybridge with the rape of a woman following a night out last month.

Dale Garlick, of Calico Crescent, has been remanded into custody and will appear at Tameside Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (27 October) accused of rape of a female over 16 years of age. 

Police received a report on Monday 27 September from a woman who believed at some time during a night out in Stalybridge town centre on Saturday 25 September that her drink had been spiked and she had been raped.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "GMP treats all reports of sexual assault and sexual violence with the utmost priority and confidentiality, and take allegations of this nature extremely seriously."
