Police renew appeal to find man missing for over a year

Wayne Rekia.

Police have renewed an appeal to find a man with Audenshaw connections who has been missing for just over one year.

Wayne Rekia, 45, was last seen at around 8am on Tuesday 10 August 2021 at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

He is described as mixed race, around 5ft 9ins tall, and of a medium build and was last seen wearing a burgundy T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, a black Berghaus gilet and black Nike TN shoes.

Wayne has a scar on the bridge of his nose and left wrist, and also a tattoo of a black panther on his right arm.

Officers are becoming increasingly concerned about his welfare.

DI McKeown, of GMP’s City of Manchester CID, said: “It has been over a year now since Wayne Rekia was initially reported missing and we are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare. We are appealing urgently for the public’s help to locate Wayne.

"We know that he has connections to Manchester City Centre, Longsight, the Reddish area of Stockport and Audenshaw in Tameside so he could currently be in any of these locations.

“If anyone has any information that could help reunite Wayne with his family. Please contact officers on 0161 856 4382.”

Information can also be passed via the LiveChat function on the GMP website at https://crowd.in/kdZAPK or via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
