Pensioner dies from injuries 10 days after being hit by car outside Ashton Bus Station

A 75-year-old woman who was hit by a car outside of Ashton bus station one week before Christmas has sadly died.

It happened on Sunday 18 December at around 2pm when she was involved in a collision with a Mercedes-Benz car on Wellington Road, close to the transport interchange.

Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Sadly, she passed away from those injuries yesterday (Tuesday 28 December).

Police say that the driver of the car stayed at the scene and assisted them, no one has been arrested and an investigation is ongoing.

Police Constable Lee Gandy, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a devastating incident in which a woman has sadly died. Our thoughts go out to her family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."

They also appealed for anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident to get in touch.

He continued: “Due to this collision happening in the middle of the day and on a weekend, we are hopeful that there will be a number of people who saw this incident and will be able to assist police with enquiries.

“If you have any dash-cam footage or information please speak to police as soon as possible.”
