Make a date with history in Tameside

Tameside History Club has announced a series of monthly meetings, which will be held at the Local Studies and Archives Centre, on Cotton Street in Ashton.

The first next month is by Joanne Williams who will be talking about her new book ‘Miss Lydia Becker - Suffragist, Scientist and Trailblazer.’

The talk is at 2pm on Wednesday, March 16.

The next talk will be by Neil Williams, from Glossop Line Heritage, who will be speaking about their latest project providing information boards along the historic railway line. The talk goes ahead again at 2pm, on Wednesday, April 13.

May’s meeting is entitled ‘The Stalybridge Merman’ a talk about champion swimmer Joey Nuttall by Keith Myerscough on Wednesday, May 18 also at 2pm.

Then June’s talk is also a walk when you are invited to join David Dawson on a tour along Tameside’s ancient highway Currier Lane in Ashton. Those attending should meet at the Serendipity Cafe on Stamford Street, Ashton.
