Library and art gallery in Stalybridge temporarily close

Stalybridge Library and the Astley Cheetham Art Gallery will be closed for a period from Thursday (3 June) to allow essential works to be carried out.

Tameside Council has said that the buildings on Trinity Street will both close to the public and apologise for any inconvenience it will cause.

The library will reopen again on Tuesday 15 June, and the Art Gallery will reopen on Wednesday 16 June.

The seven other libraries in Tameside will be open during normal staffed hours for anyone who wishes to use an alternative library.

The Market Gallery inside Ashton Market is also still open, with a new exhibition of artworks by local artist Vanessa Dixon, as well as photographs from the Local Studies and Archives collection.

Of course, Portland Basin Museum in Ashton and the Astley Cheetham Art Gallery in Stalybridge have now reopened their doors to the public once again too after lockdown.
