Hollingworth celebrates Queen's Platinum Jubilee

The community of Hollingworth got together to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in style.

The Friends of Hollingworth committee, made up of a group of volunteers, invited villagers to bring a picnic and enjoy some entertainment - consisting of Arnfield Brass Band, Ellen Lynch, Scott Wright, Take This That and The other and Dave.

The Civic Mayor of Tameside Cllr Mike Glover and Mayoress Anne Gordon came along and enjoyed homemade lemonade and lemon drizzle.

Longdendale councillors Jacqueline Owen and Jacqueline North also showed their support.

Verity James from the Friends of Hollingworth committee said: "The wonderful villagers baked some delicious cakes and my daughters helped me bake all day and made old fashioned lemonade for a cake stall.

"We wanted it to be a free event for the community to enjoy so through fundraising it ensured that the children had free face paints and balloons and bubble station. The bands/singers and Hollingworth Juniors came and supported the event for free.

"Everyone enjoyed the day."
