Help and advice on Tameside services over festive period

Tameside residents are being reminded that help and advice on local services is available at the click of a button over the Christmas period.

Tameside Council's website at www.tameside.gov.uk is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for access to services and information.

Libraries, museums and galleries closed on Wednesday 22 December.

Libraries:

Tameside libraries will reopen in the New Year, with a Click and Collect Service only, from 4 January.

In the New Year, customers will still be able to access online libraries services as well as using the click and collect services. Residents should check here for staffed opening times for each library.

Museum, galleries and Local Studies and Archives:

Museum, galleries and Local Studies and Archives will reopen in the New Year.

For further information on libraries see https://www.tameside.gov.uk/LibrariesandLeisure, for Local Studies and Archives see https://www.tameside.gov.uk/archives and for further information on museums and galleries see https://www.tameside.gov.uk/museumsandgalleries.

The council say the aforementioned temporary arrangements will be reviewed in the New Year in accordance with government restrictions and also depending on staffing availability affected by Covid.

To contact the council in an emergency during the Christmas closure, call 0161 342 2222.

If you are struggling over the festive period, mental health support is available even on Christmas Day. Visit https://www.tamesideandglossopccg.org/mentalhealthsupport for more information and to access a directory of 24-hour helplines.

There will also be changes to waste and recycling collections over the Christmas and New Year period. For updates, visit www.tameside.gov.uk/recycling and follow @tmbc_waste on Twitter. You can also download the bin app for updates and alerts on Christmas waste and recycling collections, to set reminders and report missed/lost bins.

Christmas trees can be left out with your brown bin from 10 January for recycling. Crews will also collect any additional recyclable waste left out with Black or Blue recycling bins in a clear or labelled bag.
