Festive fun in Dukinfield

Dukinfield residents were left feeling magical after Father Christmas stopped by the town hall in his sleigh.

The ‘Santa float’ was organised by the Tameside Rotary Club and takes donations for local charities.

Tons of fun also took place at the Dukinfield town hall. Youngsters enjoyed the delights of the fairground with rides and a bouncy castle.

Dukinfield councillors Jackie Lane, John Taylor and Nalia Sharif were there to lend a helping hand, passing around Santa’s post box for all the children’s letters.

Cllr Jackie Lane added: "We would like to thank Globe Lane canteen and cafe and volunteers from Morrisons, Jigsaw Homes, town hall staff, Tameside Council, Stalybridge and Dukinfield Rotary Club, Dukinfield Pantry, Yew Tree Singers and Adamson Military Band.

"Without these people we couldn't have done the switch-on. It shows we have a fantastic community here in Dukinfield.”
