Ensemble Theatre in the spotlight in Denton

TAKING TO THE STAGE: The curtain has gone up on the adult and youth Ensemble groups.

Denton Create Centre's Ensemble Theatre groups are back in the spotlight.

The centre has two Ensemble groups - one especially for adults and one for young people.

Ensemble artistic director Janet Fagan explained: “The groups are to support adults and young people to participate in inclusive community arts.

“The Youth Ensemble is on a Thursday evenings from 6-8pm and we are working on a performance with young people about the challenges that are affecting their lives today.

“It involves exploring dance, script, character work and art and design. The group is empowering young people to talk and learn together and use the arts to challenge issues and feelings about difficult situations facing young people today,” added Janet.

The Adults Ensemble meets on Fridays from 6-8pm.

“At present we are developing scripted pieces around domestic violence awareness and communication networks,” she added.

“We also developed a fabric/sculptured piece for last week’s International Women’s Day. The group also wrote poems and short monologues to share.

“We are looking to display our work at events and within our local community of Denton and Tameside.”
