Denton primary pupils to benefit after funding boost

A primary school in Denton has received a financial boost which will allow Year 6 pupils to benefit from a multitude of activities.

Manor Green Primary Academy in Haughton Green has received an undisclosed amount of funding from the Irwell Valley Foundation, which will allow them to purchase 60 Junior Life Skills licenses for their oldest children.

The financial backing will see the Mancunian Road school acquire the licenses, which in turn allows pupils to participate in activities that enable them to acquire essential life skills through interactive experiential demonstrations and events, covering subjects such as fire safety, bullying, and road safety awareness.

Child Safety Media (CSM), the organisation who provide the Junior Life Skills licenses, work to educate children through interactive events via partnerships with the emergency services and local safety agencies.

Tracey Thornton, Principal at Manor Green Primary Academy, said: “We are so pleased to have been awarded this funding from the Irwell Valley Foundation. Child Safety Media equip young people with invaluable skills which will stay with them for a lifetime.

“The LASER (Learning About Safety by Experiencing Risk) approach will give our Year 6 pupils the chance to learn vital information from teams of professionals, limiting risks and the likelihood of accidental injuries.

“We’d like to extend our thanks to the Irwell Valley Foundation for recognising the importance of these Junior Life Skills licenses, and for supporting Manor Green in acquiring them.”

The Irwell Valley Foundation supports community initiatives, with organisations and individuals able to apply for a share of the grant.

Manor Green Primary Academy operates as part of Focus Trust, a charitable multi-academy trust which is based in the North West of England, and which has a vision of providing an engaging and challenging learning environment where the children are happy.
