Dave Sweetmore column: Tribute band festival 'first'

The legendary 'Manchester Adored' festival returns next month. Tameside Radio presenter Dave Sweetmore tells us what we can expect...

The first big tribute festival of the year takes place next month when the now legendary 'Manchester Adored' festival takes place at Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester.

It's one of the greatest events of its kind, in which music fans from all over the UK and Ireland travel to be at the 12-hour event.

Held on Saturday 26 March, across four large arenas in the iconic Bowlers venue, the day and night has seen the production of the event become as spectacular as the music itself.

I'll be DJing and hosting the main arena, which will see leading tributes Kazabian, Courtbetweeners, Appy Mondays, The Oasis Experience, Resurrection (Stone Roses), These Smiths, Laid (James), Noel Gallagher's High Flying Carpets, and The Fillers all playing live.

There's also the guilty pleasures arena, which will host tributes to Duran Duran, Erasure, Culture Club and Human League, with DJ Jason Lee.

In the acid house arena, many legendary DJs such as Peter Hook, Graeme Park, Stu Allan, Ricky Isted, Si Frater and Greenbins will be performing, with a live PA from Alison Limerick.

The fourth arena 'The Beer Emporium' will see Clint Boon host acoustic tributes to Oasis, The Verve, Courteeners and The Beautiful South, plus a live set from Mr Wilson's Second Liners. Clint will also be joined by members of 808 State, The Farm and Northside for DJ sets, along with Paul Eden.

It's a packed and eventful day that has become a staple fixture in the calendar for many, and after the success of all previous events, it's safe to say that this, the first event of its kind in 2022, is going to be huge.

More than 3,000 tickets have already been sold, a sell-out is likely, so if you fancy joining me on what is one of the best events of its kind, getting your tickets in advance is well advised.

Simon, Jade and the Manchester Adored team, who I've mentioned before in this weekly column, are second to none at making festivals like this the best around. That's why for so many like myself, Manchester Adored events are some of our favourite gigs to be a part of, and one of the best days of the year.

Come and join us on 26 March, it's always a day and night to remember.
