Firefighters tackled a blaze at the former Hyde Library building on Monday afternoon (21 March).
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said three fire engines from Hyde, Stalybridge and Ashton stations were called at around 5pm to reports of a building fire on Union Street.
A GMFRS spokesperson added: "Crews arrived quickly at the scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatuses used a nine-meter ladder and a hose reel to extinguish the fire.
"Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour and a half."
Smoke was seen billowing from an upstairs window.
The cause of the fire hasn't yet been made public.
The building has been vacant since 2015, when the library service moved to its new premises at Hyde Town Hall on Greenfield Street.
