Covid home test kits available for collection in Tameside

A rapid Covid-19 self-test kit.

Tameside residents are being encouraged to pick up free rapid Covid-19 tests from two collection points this week.

Tameside Council has confirmed that community collect vans will be parked at Active Ken Ward in Hattersley on Thursday (27 May) from 10am to 3pm, and the Indian Community Centre on Union Road in Ashton on Friday (28 May) from 9am to midday.

People are being urged to stop by and collect a box of seven rapid Covid tests to use twice a week at home.

You can check to see where the nearest collection site to your home is by typing in your postcode at https://maps.test-and-trace.nhs.uk

Rapid testing can also be accessed by ordering a home test kit online at www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests or visiting a local asymptomatic testing site, where details can be found at www.tameside.gov.uk/rapidtesting

With around one in three infectious people not experiencing any symptoms, the council is again reminding people of the importance of regular testing in stopping the spread of the virus - including if you have been fully vaccinated.
