Could you offer support to help the Tameside Homelessness Team?

Tameside Council's homelessness team has worked throughout the pandemic to deliver move-on support for those finding themselves homeless in the borough.

Since the start of Covid restrictions nearly two years ago, they have secured more than 370 moves in total, with 180 people going into their own homes since the beginning of 2021.

They are great at working with landlords to find the right homes for the right people and now they need you.

The homelessness team has been the top-performing team nationally for delivering the highest percentage reduction in rough sleeping in 2019-2021 and their relationships with key partner agencies in Tameside are strong and growing.

They pride themselves on the ability to support individuals with a range of service needs into finding homes of their own.

Support from the Tameside Homelessness Team is person-centred. They work with individuals in all facets of their life to create lasting change.

Alongside the work in service, preventative work in the field means they are fast to respond to any reports of rough sleeping and to provide the support required to enable individuals to find accommodation and a bed for the night.

Homelessness is humanitarian crisis. The homelessness team is doing a great job in Tameside to remove the need for anyone to sleep rough. However, to continue their good work, they need move-on options available to those who find themselves homeless for any number of reasons often outside of their control.

Empty homes filled with tenants can provide financial security for landlords and can mean people finally finding a home. Tameside has people looking for homes right now - can you offer support?

Alongside existing relationships, the team is looking for opportunities to build relationships with private landlords/agencies and is in need of move-on properties for singles and families in Tameside and beyond.

By way of return, they offer a comprehensive incentive package including financial support, move-in assistance from specially trained homelessness staff, insurance policy and resettlement support.

If you have an empty property in Tameside or beyond and would like to help reduce (or support) homelessness, they would love to hear from you.

If you think you can help, please call 0161 342 3392 or email moveon@tameside.gov.uk and one of the team will be in touch with you promptly.

If you are concerned about someone who is or who may be rough sleeping, please call 0161 331 2700 or email roughsleepers@tameside.gov.uk
