Community award for long-serving pub licensee

Marple Bridge publican Joanne Farrell has been awarded the BII (British Institute of Innkeeping) Heart of the Community Award.

The award is in recognition of her continuous efforts to go above and beyond for her community - especially in these challenging times when pubs have to stay shut.

However, Joanne (pictured), licensee at Robinsons’ owned Windsor Castle pub, has diversified with a fresh fruit and veg stall on the side of the pub, which is open Thursday, Friday and Saturdays.

The pub is widely known not just for its delicious real ale but for its charitable events within the community.

From helping the homeless to hosting royal events, the Windsor Castle is a strong community-focused pub, with long-serving licensee Joanne, who has been at the pub for over 10 years, at the heart of it all.

Joanne said: “I am delighted to be able to help our community in these difficult times, we hope everybody stays safe and we look forward to welcoming everybody back when we reopen.”
