Two hospitalised after collision involving bus and Audi in Hyde

Two people were taken to hospital after a collision involving a school bus and an Audi in Hyde on Friday afternoon (1 July).

Greater Manchester Police said they were called at 1.45pm to the incident on Dukinfield Road, at the junction with Lower Bennett Street. 

Police, fire engines, a land ambulance and an air ambulance were witnessed around the scene. 

Images show a red Audi has sustained severe damage in the collision with a Yellow School Bus. 

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said that a man and a woman were taken to hospital. 

Firefighters had to use cutting equipment to rescue the man from the car, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has said. 

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At around 1.50pm today (Friday 1 July) firefighters were called to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Lower Bennett Street and Dukinfield Road, Tameside. 

“The collision involved one bus and one car. Two fire engines from Stalybridge and Hyde and a technical response unit from Ashton-under-Lyne quickly attended the scene and trauma technicians assessed two casualties. 

“Crews used cutting equipment to rescue one man from the car. Colleagues from North West Ambulance Service treated the man along with one woman who was driving the bus. 

“Firefighters were detained for approximately 45 minutes.”

The road was still closed at around 4.30pm, with the 330 Stagecoach bus having to be diverted. 

Any witnesses with information or dash cam footage is asked to contact police via 101 or gmp.police.uk quoting 1694 01/07/22.
